NHPF’s 5th Annual Symposium will explore what we’re learning from 10 years of housing challenges, beginning with the Great Recession to the pandemic that brought the world to its knees. Drawing insights from the foreclosure crisis, the growing scarcity of affordable homes and the injustice of systemic racism, how can we shape a clear vision and strong course of action to navigate the post-pandemic world?
Collaborating once again with Enterprise Community Partners, we will publish a report featuring detailed accounts from key industry influencers, local examples of what’s working, and timely data points and predictions to offer actionable ways to build and preserve more equitable, resilient communities that people can afford. By examining what’s behind us, we can prepare for what’s ahead—together.
Co-chairs for the 2021 Symposium are Ralph F. Boyd, Jr., Sarah E. Feinberg, and Cherie Santos-Wuest.
This year’s NHPF Affordable Housing Trailblazer Award will be presented to two bipartisan legislators, each of whom has consistently co-sponsored several pieces of important Housing Legislation:
NHPF is awarding the Affordable Housing Advocacy Award to Representative Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) for her unflagging efforts to create and preserve affordable housing and her work on social justice issues.
NHPF is awarding this year’s Industry Leader Award to Eleanor Holmes Norton, Delegate to United States House of Representatives, DC for her fifteen terms of dedicated service to the needs of low to middle income families in the District of Columbia.
Special Guest Speaker Kimberly Latrice Jones, Black activist and author, who rose to prominence in 2020 for the viral video How Can We Win posted during the George Floyd protests. She will be speaking about the importance of working and creating engagement opportunities with 3rd parties who are putting DEI work front and center to make real change in housing equity and other important issues of our time.
Symposium Conversations, moderated by Laura DeMaria, Executive Director, National Association for County Community and Economic Development, continue our much-anticipated series of stimulating dialogues with a “Who’s Who” in America’s affordable housing policy and implementation.
This year we are pleased to offer two ways to experience the Symposium:
In-Person screening for a limited number of attendees at Union Station in Washington, DC. A vast array of culinary delights and various libations will be served throughout the event. Registration begins at 3:30 PM.
PLEASE NOTE: Per CDC and local District of Columbia regulations, masks are required as well as proof of vaccination required to attend the Symposium. Thank you so much.
